Successful homeopathic treatment of breast cancer

Cured without chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery

by Healing Cancer Naturally copyright © 2025

Another case study owed to German physician Dr. med. Jens Wurster showing the successful treatment of cancer with homeopathy where Healing can be achieved even in the most hopeless cases.

Dr Jens Wurster is the author of "Die homöopathische Behandlung und Heilung von Krebs und metastasierten Tumoren" ("The homeopathic treatment and cure of cancer and metastatic tumors") from which the following case study has been excerpted and translated. He also coauthored the books "Diagnose Brustkrebs" ("Diagnosis breast cancer") and "Adjuvante Homöopathie in der Onkologie" (Adjuvant homeopathy in oncology).

Diagnosis:

Breast carcinoma on the right, histologically confirmed after test biopsy ED 6/2004

A 53-year-old lady from Finland presented at my office in the Clinica St. Croce in August 2004. As early as March 2003, she had noticed a lump in her right breast, which had been growing slowly. In the spring of 2004, this lump began to grow faster and started to hurt. It was accompanied by a pulling sensation which worried the patient to the point of deciding to have a mammogram. This confirmed the suspected tumor and, in order to be certain, a biopsy was performed which histologically confirmed a malignant carcinoma in the right breast.

She was advised to first undergo chemotherapy to reduce the tumor size which would allow subsequent surgery to be performed more effectively. Following chemotherapy and surgery, she would be given five weeks of radiotherapy. A five-week radiation treatment with approx. 45 Gray is roughly equivalent to receiving 45,000 X-rays (forty-five thousand!). This is the current gold standard in conventional cancer treatment.

Scientists have established that the incidence of secondary tumors is many times higher following radiation treatment. Radiotherapy partially destroys the mitochondria of the respiratory chain, damaging cellular respiration for years to come and preparing the ground for new tumors developing.

The patient, however, did not want chemo or radiotherapy or surgery. She wanted to try and get well with homeopathy. As in Finland, homeopathy is even less recognized than in Germany or Switzerland, she only told her very best friends about her plan of visiting a homeopathic clinic, to avoid the ridicule and mockery which would ensue.

During the admission interview, the patient hardly stopped crying—she could no longer bear the stressful situation with her husband, who had been suffering from an alcohol problem and severe depression since retiring.

For the last few months, she had been crying for several hours a day—she simply couldn't imagine a way out of the situation.

During the examination, a tumor about 3 cm in size was found in her right breast. The tumor was hard and movable and fortunately hadn't grown yet into the chest wall.

There had been a lipoma in the left breast for a long time. Her tongue had many tooth impressions, which usually is a sign of a spleen chi deficiency. This meant that the body had been in a state of severe exhaustion for a long time.

She had several warts on her stomach.

She says that her hands quickly become rough and cracked in winter. Her sleep is severely disturbed because she keeps thinking about the cancer and worrying about her husband. She often wakes up at night and has the strange feeling that someone else is lying in bed with her. She opens her eyes and, with her eyes open, keeps seeing different people next to her in bed. Some five minutes later, these people will disappear again. She can't explain this phenomenon, but it has been going on for years.

She also kept dreaming that she was falling from a height. She likes to eat raw onions, but they always trigger flatulence. She tolerated well the vaccinations she received. Her stomach is very sensitive to touch and she cannot wear tight belts. She finds the cold wind in Finland hard to bear as it always gives her a toothache. After the birth of her child, she lost a lot of hair and developed a breast infection. At the age of 30, a dermoid cyst was removed from her right ovary. She underwent sterilization at the age of 40.

After menopause, she was given hormones because of her hot flushes accompanied by profuse sweating. Now that the tumor had been diagnosed and confirmed, all hormones were of course discontinued because it is known that typically, estrogens will promote tumor growth. Hormone administration after menopause has already caused many tumors to grow and should really be avoided. Fortunately, an American study involving 30,000+ women has shown the dangers of these hormones which will hopefully encourage a more responsible use of these substances.

It's no easy task these days to treat a tumor patient who doesn't want to follow the conventional path, using homeopathy only. Unfortunately, one still has to do it almost in secrecy—lest one could be called irresponsible by fellow doctors or has to fear for one's license. Only recently a colleague politely let me know I needn't fancy myself treating a certain stomach tumor patient with homeopathy. Should I try nevertheless, he would report me to the Board so that proceedings could be initiated against me forthwith. I was indeed not allowed to treat this patient and know nothing about his fate. But I do know what became of another stomach cancer patient of mine, who was told by the surgeon upon meeting him in the hospital corridor: “Hello Mr. X, make an appointment for next week, your stomach has to come out.”

The patient had already received several rounds of chemo and radiotherapy for an extensive MALT lymphoma of his stomach, but these had been unable to stop the disease. Now, as a last resort, the entire stomach was to be removed. Terrible pain was his constant companion. In his despair and in the hope of being allowed to keep his stomach, he came to see me and I treated him with nothing but homeopathy. A few weeks later, the terrible stomach pains disappeared and gradually all his other complaints diminished. The patient is enjoying his stomach to this day and is free of symptoms.

If the root cause of the cancer isn't found in the diseased organ itself, but rather constitutes a disorder of the whole person, the tumor can be healed by healing the whole person.

This is the reason why so many patients will relapse after tumor removal and chemotherapy: the tumor has been eliminated but not the underlying cause that led to its development in the first place.

Now let's return to our case. How can we help this desperate patient?

The first step is to collect all the symptoms we can from the case history.

Analyzing the case is not exactly easy, as several levels are intertwined.

On the one hand, we have the constitutional symptoms, which show us the way to the basic remedy, and on the other, this case presents many miasmatic signs (dermoid cysts, warts, lipomas etc.), which lead us to suspect a sycotic burden.[1] Let's take the conspicuous characteristic symptoms from this case:

I have found it very striking that the lady dreams that someone is lying next to her in bed. That is strange.

Then I found it striking that she had a craving for raw onions but couldn't tolerate them.

If we look at these symptoms, then we have Thuja in first place (see the result of the repertorization on the next page, upper illustration - unavailable).[2]

If we find these conspicuous symptoms for Thuja, then we must examine the case more closely for Thuja (see the result of the repertorization on the next pages, lower illustration - unavailable).

Thuja definitely is a strong candidate.

Can we give Thuja now?

Not so fast, because first we should go back to the initial case history and look at the repertorization again, and we find that Sepia covers the totality of the symptoms very well and that the symptoms not covered by Sepia are covered by Thuja. This would indicate a miasmatically complex case that is likely to require several remedies.

If in doubt about which remedy to start with, then it is best to start with the remedy that covers the totality of the symptoms the most. In our case, this is Sepia. It is also typical for the Sepia person to cry slightly when talking about her illness or symptoms. We also find the hot flushes with perspiration and the tooth marks on the tongue. These are symptoms which are present at the moment and which are covered by Sepia but not by Thuja. We also have Phosphorus as a further differential diagnosis because of the breast inflammation during breastfeeding, the lipoma and a certain tendency to bleed. Then she once had a fall on her breast, which is why we additionally have to think of Conium as a background remedy, if the fall on the breast could have been a possible tumor trigger. I have often experienced, for example, that the totality of symptoms clearly spoke in favor of Sepia, but the remedy did not help because another level was not taken into account. If a woman has had a blow or an injury to the breast and a tumor has developed at this site one or two years later[3], then we must question very carefully whether there have been changes in her feelings or on the physical level since this bump occurred.

Dizziness or ecchymoses often developed, which then led me to Conium. We must also always realize that our so-called constitutional remedy, our similimum so to speak, can only be of secondary importance if the organism has been put into a different state. For example, after a blow to the breast one can enter a state of conium and only when this has been removed will the constitutional remedy take effect again. Conium and Bellis-perennis are the best remedies for injuries to the breast or when tumors have developed after contusion.

Another example is a cheerful, open-hearted and extroverted Phosphorus woman. All the symptoms of her whole life speak only for Phosphorus. And suddenly this woman's only child has an accident. A world collapses for the woman, she withdraws, wants to be left alone, refuses all comfort and develops herpes under her lower lip. Then this woman is still constitutionally Phosphorus, but now she has come into a Natrium muriaticum state. She now needs Natrium muriaticum to overcome this condition. This is due to the fact that even psychological conditions can represent blockages that must first be overcome with the help of specific remedies before the basic remedy can work again.

In this case, however, the constant crying seems to me to be a very conspicuous emotional symptom and so I decide on Sepia, but I don't want to give it to her until the next day because I wanted to study everything in peace in the evening.

If you only take the symptoms that are currently present, that cause discomfort or are objective, such as the dental imprints that are now present, then these few symptoms also point to Sepia.

If then you refer back to the symptom collection, you will find other very clear Sepia symptoms.

We make a list of case parameters that include tumor size, tumor pain, constant crying, disturbed sleep and lack of energy.

The day after the anamnesis, she came to the clinic still crying. If the crying had been much better now, then the detailed preliminary case history taken would certainly have been a contributing factor, but her crying made it clear that her condition could not be improved by talking to her. Now we started the therapy.

We start on 23.08.04 with SEPIA Q3.

Course of events:

The very next day the patient feels a certain inner stability, giving her the feeling of better being able to cope with her “hopeless” situation. The crying stops. Over the next few days, sleep improves and the tumor pain decreases. After some seven days, the patient notices that the tumor—now painless—has shrunk somewhat. After a fortnight, the patient returns home, with tumor size decreased by 50%.

How wonderful homeopathy is—we help the organism to heal itself. Taking the Q-potencies on a daily basis for two months, the tumor shrank by 80%. Another two months, and the hot flushes completely disappeared. Clearly, by using Sepia we were working on a hormonal level, with the remedy bringing about a hormonal balance.

After six months, the tumor had completely disappeared and was no longer palpable.

I was able to see this for myself when the patient brought her depressed husband with her, who, among other things, had been suffering from maddening headaches for four years. He had already had a CT scan of his head because the doctors suspected a brain tumor after every therapy had failed. I have been treating the husband with Nux-vomica for years now and he no longer has headaches, is no longer depressed and has given up drinking.

The patient was given Sepia in Q potencies up to Q13 until June 2005, initially on a daily basis and then only every two to three days.

I then switched to the C-potencies.

It went very well, so I am only giving the other remedies here for complete documentation.

Acute cystitis with very strong burning sensation when urinating. Cantharis C200 helped immediately.

She feels a slight pulling sensation where the tumor used to be. To be on the safe side, I immediately switch back to the Q potencies: Sepia Q14.

16.12.05

Sepia Q15

The pulling in the breast has disappeared, but I still continue with the Q-potencies. Once the organism and the immune system have allowed a tumor to develop, you have to be very careful to always support the immune system in its function with the optimal homeopathic remedies so as not to risk a recurrence.

09.01.06

Sepia Q16

24.01.06

She gets a buttermilk-like discharge from her vagina, the same she had 20 years ago. She calls me to ask for a homeopathic remedy.

I explain to her Burnett's theory that many mammary tumors originate in the uterus and that chronic uterine dysfunction can lead to mammary tumors. Burnett also described several cases where chronic leucorrhea had been stopped with medicinal douches and after some time lumps formed in the breasts. I have also treated such patients and can only confirm Burnett's words.

Our patient also had a history of inflammation of the uterus. It would be a mistake to give a homeopathic remedy for the discharge, as we would hinder the natural healing process.

If old chronic symptoms recur in the course of homeopathic therapy, this is a very good sign. And especially when a cancerous tumor in the breast disappears and an old discharge returns. This is the right direction of healing.

30.01.06

The discharge has somewhat lessened.

She thanks me for the letter I wrote to get the Finnish health insurance companies to pay for the homeopathic treatment. But unfortunately the insurers won't cover the costs on the following grounds: as homeopathy is not science-based, it is unsuitable for the treatment of breast cancer.

Of course, I had to gulp a little upon learning this news: after all, this histologically confirmed breast cancer had disappeared using homeopathy and the lady had been spared surgery, harmful chemotherapy, and radiation. However, the health insurance company would have shelled out 100,000 EUR for the conventional treatment without blinking an eye, while refusing the 2,500 EUR for the homeopathic therapy. What a strange health system they have in Finland, but it's not much different in Germany and Switzerland.

Fortunately, right after the patient came to our clinic, this case was included in a study under way at the Tumor Biology Clinic in Freiburg, Germany, meaning this case was monitored and documented in its entirety by independent doctors from the outset. The controlling physician was impressed with the course of her treatment as well, especially as the cancer had been confirmed by pathological and histological reports. In other words, the diagnosis could not be put into doubt at a later date.

13.02.06

The patient observes a light brown discharge—a vaginal fungus seems to be up to mischief again, attracting attention with terrible itching. She should treat it with yogurt only, inserted to rebuild the vaginal flora.

Lately, the last three fingers of her right hand often fall asleep.

06.03.06

Sepia Q17 every three days.

11.04.06

Sepia Q18 every three days.

The last three fingers of the right hand fall asleep from time to time.

06.06.06

The three fingers of her right hand are numb. She dreamed of dead people.

She complains of pain at the tip of her tongue. It is particularly painful when touched.

What do we do with these symptoms? What do we need to think about?

The pain at the tip of the tongue is also a Sepia symptom. Could it indicate that it is a late aggravation? No, because we can only speak of a late aggravation if, after several bottles of Q potency, the symptoms that the patient initially presented as a complaint reappear.

The pain at the tip of the tongue is a completely new symptom, so it can either be a proving symptom[4] of Sepia, or it is an indication of a new remedy.

We can easily find this out by taking a closer look at the other sections with the other symptoms.[2]

It is also striking that her fingers keep falling asleep.

The Thuja symptoms had to appear at some point. It was already at the forefront of the first analysis, but now the symptoms clearly indicate Thuja.

Now it must be given to calm the sycotic miasm a little and then Sepia will certainly be able to work even better.

Prescription: Thuja C30

02.08.06

Thuja has done very well.

The numbness of the fingers has almost completely disappeared, the tongue pain has never reappeared. The discharge is now only very slight.

Now the symptoms of Thuja have disappeared again and I think to myself that the Thuja was a very important intermediate remedy before continuing on the patient with Sepia.

Sepia Q19 every three days.

20.09.06

It is going very well. The patient is very satisfied.

How did the patient fare until July 2015, the time of publishing the book containing her case history?

The patient came to my treatment for the first time in 2004. Meanwhile, I have been treating this lovely patient for over 11 years. She is now in full health, with no evidence of a tumor remaining.

The main remedy continues to be Sepia, which she takes either as Q or as C potencies.

Summary:

The patient was told by several sources that breast cancer could not be treated with homeopathy. This was another reason why the health insurance companies refused to cover the costs of homeopathic treatment. Only surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy could make the tumor disappear. Fortunately, the patient opted for homeopathy.

The patient is glad that she only received homeopathic treatment and did not have to undergo surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

With the help of Sepia and a small intermediate dose of Thuja, this histologically confirmed breast cancer disappeared.

The tumor had already regressed after six months of homeopathic therapy and has not recurred for 11 years.

The patient is happy and well. I end this case with the words of Wilhelm Busch:

When someone makes a discovery,

he is laughed at for years,

when the discovery is finally recognized,

everyone agrees it is self-evident.

Footnotes

1 The homeopathic miasma theory posits that chronic diseases arise from underlying, sometimes inherited or acquired, miasms which are energetic disturbances or predispositions weakening the vital force (life energy). These miasms—initially three main types described by Hahnemann—are seen as the root causes of chronic illnesses that progress dynamically and stealthily over time. Homeopathic treatment aims to identify and address these miasmatic influences through specific remedies (similimum) to restore balance and cure the patient by peeling away layers of disease suppression. The theory highlights disease as a spiritual or energetic imbalance rather than purely physical infection, differentiating it from conventional germ theories.

The term “sycotic” is part of the homeopathic miasm theory. The sycotic miasm is described as one of the three classic chronic miasms alongside psora and syphilinia. It is characterized by unchecked growth, excessive metabolic situations and subsequent weakness. On a physical level, sycosis manifests itself through skin growths, warts, papillomas and tumors as well as excessive bone growth

Note: Similarly, both naturopathic detoxification approaches and energy healing methods posit that underlying factors, i.e. toxins or emotional-energetic imbalances or blockages disrupt healthy functioning and must be addressed at the root for true healing to occur.

Naturopathy focuses on eliminating physical and biochemical factors as contributors to toxic burden through practical cleansing regimens for “detoxification”, diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies
Energetic approaches such as EFT focus on clearing energetic pathways in the body using tapping while homeopathy identifies invisible miasms as root energetic causes of chronic disease.

All these approaches are founded on the belief that the body’s natural healing ability can re-establish health once these foundational disturbances and obstacles are cleared and balance is restored, rather than merely treating and suppressing symptoms.

2 Dr Wurster is referring to the Repertory here, a reference book that is extracted from the materia medica, i.e. the homeopathic pharmacopoeia, and is used to determine a suitable remedy. See detailed information provided in the introduction to Successful homeopathic treatment of pancreatic cancer.

3 "There are numerous cases reported in the scientific medical literature of malignant tumors arising in places which many years prior had been damaged by a blow", see Bruises turning into tumors.

4 A proving symptom in homeopathy refers to a symptom that is observed and documented by taking a homeopathic remedy in healthy people during a so-called drug proving.
Meaning of the proving symptom
Proving symptoms occur when healthy people take a homeopathic substance and accurately note the symptoms or changes that occur. These artificially induced symptoms are used to treat similar symptoms in patients later on with the appropriate remedy—in accordance with the homeopathic principle of “like cures like”.
