For better understanding of Dr Wurster's article, please note that the “Mac Repertory 4.5“ repeatedly referred to is a reference book that is extracted from the materia medica, i.e. the homeopathic pharmacopoeia, and is used to determine a suitable remedy. In a homeopathic repertory, the various symptoms are listed in rubrics with detailed information on accompanying circumstances, conditions etc., as well as all the appropriate homeopathic remedies for which these symptoms have been described.

By questioning the patient in detail, the patient's symptoms, including all special features, should be compiled and, by comparing them with the corresponding list in the repertory, exactly the remedy that is listed in ALL the symptom descriptions should be selected. Special attention should be paid to symptoms that are atypical for the course of the disease but typical for the patient. In addition to this so-called repertorization, the detailed remedy descriptions of the Materia Medica should be consulted in order to select the remedy that is most suitable in terms of constitution and symptoms.

In short, repertorization is the process of determining the appropriate homeopathic remedy based on the symptoms described by the patient and comparing them with entries in the repertory including the remedies considered effective for these symptoms, paying particular attention to unusual symptoms that are characteristic of the patient. After repertorization, the selection is compared with the detailed Materia Medica in order to find the most suitable remedy for the individual patient.

In addition to printed repertories, repertory software including the 'Mac Repertory 4.5' consulted by Dr Wurster is available today to make it easier to find the symptoms and matching remedies via search functions etc.

I can literally hear the outcry of many doctors when I claim that pancreatic tumors can be treated or even cured homeopathically.

According to state-of-the-art professional standards, the surgical removal of the tumor and the surrounding tissue is the most important therapeutic measure for pancreatic cancer. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are also used in conventional medicine. The average five-year survival rate is five percent. Compared to other oncological diseases, pancreatic cancer is one of the most malignant cancers with one of the worst prognoses.

Patients with inoperable pancreatic cancer live on average only six months despite the administration of special drugs, and the five-year survival rate of patients treated palliatively is zero percent.

In general, conventional medical therapies severely restrict quality of life. As a researching physician witnessing the suffering of patients with pancreatic tumors—realizing that their only remaining option is aggressive chemotherapy that strips away what little quality of life they have left—one is compelled to seek alternative approaches to find effective ways to support patients while stimulating their immune system strongly enough to keep the tumor under control.

In the following, I will explain my homeopathic approach to the treatment of pancreatic tumors using several significant examples. In fact, it is possible to make 'incurable' tumors disappear with the help of homeopathy.

First case study: pancreatic carcinoma, first medical history 2006

A doctor, radiologist, presented to our clinic in spring 2006 with a pancreatic carcinoma confirmed by biopsy and PET-CT. The tumor had already grown into the mesenteric vessels and liver metastases were suspected. The patient was quince yellow, had a clear jaundice, suffered from loss of appetite, vomiting and pain in the abdomen. His general condition was significantly impaired.

He had been recommended to undergo a pancreaticoduodenectomy, also known as a Whipple procedure, followed by chemotherapy.

During Whipple surgery, the pancreatic head and duodenum as well as the gallbladder, distal bile duct and gastric antrum are removed. The regional lymph nodes are also resected. The procedure is indicated for malignant processes in the area of the pancreatic head such as pancreatic head carcinoma, papillary carcinoma and distal bile duct carcinoma. The doctor was aware of his poor prognosis of a few months survival time and refused the operation.

It was at this point that the patient came to see me asking to be treated with homeopathy.

Homeopathic treatment

We have often seen Phosphorus as a remedy indicated for pancreatic tumors and therefore started treatment with Phosphorus Q3. i.e. a Q-potency^[1]. Unfortunately, there was no improvement in the symptoms when phosphorus was administered.

The good thing about the Q-potencies, however, is that even an incorrectly chosen remedy causes the organism to produce new symptoms, which often provide decisive clues as to the correct choice of remedy. For example, the patient developed the following symptoms while taking Phosphorus Q3:

- geographic tongue
- rhagade in the right corner of the mouth
- postnasal thick mucus

If you only looked at the small category "pancreatic tumors" in the repertory, you would never come up with Hydrastis. However, if you also repertorize the typical stomach complaints such as a sore feeling in the stomach and weak digestion as well as the geographic tongue and the viscous mucus, then you get clear pointers to Hydrastis canadensis, from the rootstock of goldenseal.

So his prescription was Hydrastis Q3 over 14 days.

Both the postnasal mucus and the stomach complaints improved with this remedy.

Subsequently, many symptoms of his basic remedy Lycopodium appeared. We also switched to Lycopodium Q3 because of the strong feeling of bloatedness he felt in his stomach. The patient increasingly stabilized under Lycopodium. The jaundice disappeared and the stomach pain got better and better. After four weeks, the patient went home. This time not quince yellow, but on cloud nine.

After two months of being free of all symptoms, a PET-CT scan was performed. This revealed no evidence of a tumor so the patient didn't have to undergo Whipple surgery or chemotherapy.

All of this happened nine years ago and the patient sends a Christmas card every year with best wishes and his gratitude for his recovery with the help of homeopathy.

1 Q-potencies in homeopathy, also known as LM potencies, refer to a dilution scale where the original substance is diluted at a ratio of 1:50,000 at each step. The term "Q" comes from the Latin "quinquaginta milia," meaning fifty thousand. These potencies represent a very high dilution compared to other homeopathic scales like the decimal (1:10) and centesimal (1:100) potencies.

Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, developed Q-potencies late in his life as a refinement of his potentization method to achieve a faster, gentler, and less aggravating treatment.
