Morcellation is a surgical technique which inter alia is used to break uterine fibroids into small pieces prior to their removal (myomectomy) as well as for the removal of the entire uterus through the lower abdomen (over half of which latter surgeries are also performed due to benign fibroids).

Considered a "minimally invasive" form of hysterectomy, morcellation is being proposed to many women carrying fibroids since conventional medicine has no other treatment but surgery to offer to shrink fibroids.

One of the problems with this approach consists in the fact that benign fibroids (aka uterine leiomyoma, myoma, fibromyoma, fibroleiomyoma) can actually hide malignant uterine cancer cells (uterine sarcoma) inside of them — in an estimated one in 350 patients. When such a person undergoes morcellation, the fibroids are broken up, simultaneously exploding the malignant cells which can develop into stage IV uterine cancer (leiomyosarcoma) cells as quickly as in a few days.

There may be no need to resort to any kind of surgery since fibroid tumors have been dissolved in various natural non-surgical ways, among them
